There are a lot of recalls in the news lately. It seems like there is a new case of Salmonella every day, and looking at the FDA website, that is fairly accurate. It can get pretty difficult to keep track of the different items that you have to watch out for on the grocery store.
At Spiral Food Co-op we would like to confirm that we are free from any of the things on the FDA recall list. Either we don't carry the products in question or we have different providers who have not been affected.
This is why we weren't affected by the meat shortage or the egg shortage. Because we choose to be selective about our farmers, producers, manufacturers, and supply chains, we are insulated from the majority of problems that face larger stores.
That being said, we are not immune. When we do have a recall we are quick to act. The store is small enough that we are able to check any products immediately. We remove affected products from the shelves and, when necessary, place warning sings for shoppers. Because we take every precaution with our food, these steps have not been necessary for a very long time.
Please shop with confidence that we are constantly checking for recalls and take every precaution to prevent contaminated food from reaching our shoppers.
