Spiral Food Co-op is owned by its member-owners. Members have a Board of Directors to oversee the General Manager's operation of the co-op. Board members are a resource for members and ambassadors in the community.

Meet The Board

Tammy McGinn
Board President
Tammy has been an Owner of Spiral Co-op since she moved to the area in 2012. She has been a Nationally Board Certified Massage Therapist for many years and owns a Wellness Center in a neighboring community that she opened in 2014. Tammy is also an educator and mentor in her field and has supported the development of many students. She enjoys caring for her community through health and wellness and has been involved in various volunteer organizations over the years. She is also currently a member of a local car club that raises money for local schools and charities. Tammy has been serving on the Board since October 2018.

Pete Maccaroni
Board Vice President
Pete has worked in food service for over twenty years. He started as a classically trained chef and worked his way across the industry and the world as a butcher, baker, and pastry chef in Atlanta, New York City, Minneapolis, St Paul, Quito, Ecuador, and Palermo, Sicily. After opening a few restaurants in Minneapolis, Pete started working as a chocolatier and eventually became the store's owner. After selling the shop in 2015, he went to work as the Deli manager for Seward Co-op's Franklin Avenue store. At Seward Co-op, Pete became a true believer in the cooperative model. He is currently the owner of Level Up Games stores in Minneapolis and Downtown Hastings. Pete is also working on his Master's degree program for Management of Cooperatives and Credit Unions at St Mary's University. Pete was appointed to the Board in April 2020 to fill a vacancy and was elected in October 2020.

Jenni Garlough
Board Treasurer
Jenni is a Licensed Acupuncturist and massage therapist in Hastings. She has been engaged in holistic healthcare for over a decade and is currently working on her doctorate in Chinese Medicine and pain management. She has experience in community education and is passionate about community involvement, as well as improving quality of life through natural living. Jenni has been an Owner of Spiral since 2016 and was elected to the Board in October 2019.

Annie Zastera
Board Member
Annie has worked in various aspects of childcare, both classroom, and administration. She now gets the best of both worlds at Little Beginnings Learning Center here in Hastings. Annie utilizes skills in creating, organizing, scheduling, and keeping things running smoothly. She and her husband have two boys who keep them busy with school work and activities. The boys are engaged in scouts, knowledge bowl, music, and more, keeping the whole family active. Annie enjoys helping in any way she can, especially behind the scenes. She was elected to the Board in October 2019.

Leigh Arnoldy
Board Member
Leigh has lived in Hastings for 16+ years. She holds a Bachelor in Music Education and Kodaly Method Level 1 Training and has been a music teacher for years, 12+ in Hastings. Leigh is also a student and occasional employee of the Matthew Wood Institue of Herbalism. Leigh has done her herbal apprenticeship with Matthew Wood and is working on her American Herbalist Guild certification. Leigh brings experience working in various groups, a love for nature, and knowledge of holistic health. She recognizes the importance of nature in our lives and is passionate about helping others find ways to embrace nature's health and wellness. Leigh's interest in natural health led her to Spiral Co-op, where she has been a member since 2016. She is a frequent shopper and is taking a more profound interest in seeing Spiral thrive and be a staple in the Hastings community and the southeast metro.

Jen Bierma
Board Member
Jenn opened No Knots Professional Massage & Bodyworks, Inc at the age of 19, intending to help as many people as she could. Almost 20 years later, she decided to close the business and look for new ways to help the community and support people in their healing and growth. Jenn has spent most of her life volunteering in her community and surrounding area, doing everything from decorating nursing homes for Christmas to serving as District Governor for Lions Clubs International. She comes with a wide range of skills, running a multi-employee company, taking detailed minutes for meetings, listening and communicating with others, planning events, designing stores, building relationships, and more. Jenn loves to plan events and interact with people, ultimately hoping to bring positivity and health to people in new and creative ways.

Dina Sagan
Board Member
Dina is excited to serve on the Board, bringing her attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and artistic skills to the group. She looks forward to new possibilities for the Co-op and how things will unfold. Dina is excited to propose new ideas and be a part of the team.
